Bharathi Vishnuvardhan is an actress who has performed in Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu and Tulu films. She was seen as a leading actress in the Kannada film industry during the late 1960s to 1980s. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan is one among the popular yesteryear heroines, who has been playing character roles for many years now in the south film industry. In the professional front, she was last seen in Dodmane Huduga with Puneeth Rajkumar, Radhika Pandit, “Ambareesh” and “ Sumalatha.” Bharathi dedicated this award to every person in the film industry who has helped her through her journey of acting. She also said that it is the sum total of their collective hard work that she has reached this level. She fondly remembered her husband, Dr. Vishnuvardhan, and said that it was his wish that she should be honored with this award. Bharathi has been acting for over 50 years and has been part of over 150 films across five different languages. She was also one of the earliest heroines who went to Bollywood from south and acted opposite well known heroes like Manoj Kumar and Vinod Khanna. She became famous in her supporting roles in the film Nadodi starring M. G. Ramachandran and Saroja Devi, where she played the elder sister to Saroja Devi and then her role in Chandhrodhayam as the supporting actress to Jayalalithaa. Bharathi said that she was very happy to be part of the industry for about five decades and to be part of lot of meaningful films which bring about change in society.
